Manitoba Regulation First Aid Kits
Manitoba First Aid Kit Requirements
Under Manitoba’s Workplace Safety and Health Act, employers must provide and maintain first aid kits that align with the CSA Z1220-17 standard. The specific type, size, and quantity of kits depend on two main factors:
- The number of workers on a shift
- The level of risk (likelihood and severity of injury) in the workplace
Lone or Isolated Workers
- 1 Worker in Isolation: Requires a Type 1 Personal First Aid Kit.
Low-Risk Workplace Environments
- 2–25 Workers per Shift: Type 2 Basic First Aid Kit – Small
- 26–50 Workers per Shift: Type 2 Basic First Aid Kit – Medium
- 51–100 Workers per Shift: Type 2 Basic First Aid Kit – Large
Typically found in offices, retail shops, or light manufacturing settings where injuries tend to be minor.
High-Risk Workplace Environments
- 2–25 Workers per Shift: Type 3 Intermediate First Aid Kit – Small
- 26–50 Workers per Shift: Type 3 Intermediate First Aid Kit – Medium
- 51–100 Workers per Shift: Type 3 Intermediate First Aid Kit – Large
Applies to workplaces such as warehouses, heavy manufacturing, or where hazardous materials or equipment are present.
